Scrapbooking Tips for Beginners

Well, you want to start scrapbooking, is that right?

I am going to give you some good basic beginners scrapbooking tips for starting and I can expand on that when you visit my website.

Click right here for download of 101 Tips for Starting in Scrapbooking for Success. This ebook will give you lots of tips for page design, techniques and many other interesting items to help you make a really great scrapbook.

One important point to remember is that this is not a race, unless of course, you do have a deadline. The WORK IN PROGRESS can be just as enjoyable as the finished product.

First off, get yourself a notebook. Sketch any scrapbooking ideas you see and note down products you may want to buy at a later date.
1. Decide on the topic of your book: wedding scrapbook, anniversary, baby scrapbook, flowers, holiday or whatever it is that you want to focus on.
2. Choose your photos – it is better to have less very good photos rather than a lot of average photos – the reason being is that it is better to have one memorable photo highlighted on a page than several not so good.
3. Decide on your color scheme. There are several schools of thought here – depending on your topic some prefer to have a blended background and others prefer to have a contrasting background.
4. At this stage you should choose your book so that it matches the color tonings of your pages or the theme of your scrapbook.
5. Start collecting tools that you will need: exacto knife, metal ruler, sharp sissors and more depending on your budget (see our website).
6. Keep a look out for: colored papers for decorating (some magazines include lovely ones), colored card, double sided tapes (it is good to have several types),lettering, sayings, quotes and verses (amazing how the mind goes blank at times!), stickers and other embellishments (ribbon, buttons, etc), stamps.

Scrapbooking can be so much fun. Poking around in all sorts of craft shops can be a hoot when you find funny little bits you can add to your book.

Scrapbooking is a fantastic way to spend the afternoon with friends or family. BUT be warned the time absolutely flies. We have sat down sometimes at 2pm planning to stop at dinner time and after dinner have kept scrapbooking until 10pm at night - this has happened on several occasions. It truly can become quite addictive.

SCRAPBOOKING FOR PLEASURE

SCRAPBOOKING is fast becoming the most popular way to store photos when you want them easily accessible. Having your photos on your computer is an excellent saving system but nothing compares with being able to pick up your creative album and flick through it at leisure.

Researching scrapbooking is advisable, as it is with any hobby, so that you can get a feel for what you are taking on. It really is a fun way to spend some spare time. AND the beauty of it is that unless you have a deadline it can be a work in progress which can on for as long as you wish.

I come from a fairly strong painting background and having recently started my second scrapbook. I can honestly say that it was a surprise how enjoyable I found it.

My view of hobbies is that you don't want to finish it in 5 mins. To me a hobby is something to develop over time and enjoy the process and the end result. Scrapbooking really is such a hobby. To get more information about Successful Scrapbooking click here to go to our downloadable ebook.
